J.H. Fleming
Before deciding she wanted to write books for a living, fantasy author J.H. Fleming wanted to be a singer. More specifically, she wanted to be Sarah Brightman, singing a mix of folk, classical, and opera songs. When she realized she didn't have to pick just one creative outlet, Wildwood Minstrels was born.J.H. is a soprano and plays ukulele and French horn, although she also likes to tinker with mandolin and keyboard.Find out more about her writing at jhfleming.net.

A Note from J.H.
I’ve always loved fairy tales, and was lucky enough to retain that love into my adulthood. The way a tale can cross centuries and continents, morphing and changing over the years, being told and retold by modern authors, fascinates me.I didn’t discover my love of folk songs until I was older, and even then it took me a while to recognize the connection between the two. Like fairy tales, folk songs are passed down through the centuries, changing as they cross time and distant lands. The two have similar origins, and reside in the same mental space for me: they are echoes of the past, changelings whose shapes depend on the singer or storyteller.Once I had that realization, I knew I wanted to release a book and an album together—not directly connected, but complementing one another. My new album, Once Upon A Time, is both a nod to fairy tales and a collection of some of my favorite folk songs. My new novel, Jack of Crows, is not based on any existing fairy tale, but contains fairy-tale elements: witches, curses, animal companions, wild magic, and ancient gods.May they transport you beyond this world, to a place both familiar and strange…~J.H.
